Help us provide Cinema For All

GFT - like all other cinemas in the country - is temporarily closed, but our work to provide Cinema For All continues. We’re working hard behind the scenes, from our homes, to connect our film-loving audience with lots of ways to enjoy film culture at this most difficult of times.

Films have the power to educate and inform, to entertain and inspire. There has never been a more important time to connect with others and experience other lives, through stories, fictional and real, while the global health emergency keeps us apart.

You may know that GFT is a not-for-profit educational charity which provides a variety of free or subsidised screenings, regular screenings for people living with dementia or autism, as well as being the original arthouse cinema in Scotland and the home of film in Glasgow. Our programme includes the best new independent films from around the world, plus classics and special seasons. While the cinema is closed, we’ll be sharing our suggestions for keeping that love of film alive.

We’ll be uploading new content to this website over the coming days and weeks, and announcing partnerships to make watching films at home more of a community experience. We also want you to get in touch and share your ideas if there’s something you’d like us to provide. You can contact us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Let us know what you’re watching and what you’re hoping to see when we return.

Our audience is the most important part of the GFT family and we are looking forward to opening the doors on Rose Street again and welcoming you all back to watch films on the big screen.

Until then, you can support us by buying a CineCard for yourself or someone else, purchasing Gift Vouchers, or by making a donation. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of the many ways your donations can help other people enjoy the magic of cinema.

Thank you to all of the people who have already done so. Your support and generosity is truly appreciated. We know how much you love GFT and its importance to the city, and that makes us even more determined to be there for you and provide those incredible film experiences when we re-open.
