Muslim teenager Ahmed has developed a dangerous connection with a militant imam. Almost overnight, he transforms from a relatively normal boy to a young man obsessed with prayer and the ‘purity’ of those around him. At school, he refuses to shake his teacher’s hand because she is a woman, while at home he tells off his white mum, in Arabic, for drinking alcohol. Belgium's Dardenne brothers, always sympathetic to stories of troubled youth, take a controversial turn in this portrait of a radicalised Muslim teen.
A short film will screen alongside this film as part of the Mobile Film Festival.
