The director of Waltz With Bashir returns with an inventive, unconventional animated feature that balances beguiling family entertainment with the supernatural and a strong political message.
Set one year from now as a violent storm rages in Amsterdam, it follows a young girl called Kitty who materialises in the Anne Frank museum. This is the imaginary friend Anne addressed in her diary. As Kitty tries to find Anne in modern day Amsterdam, her quest is blended with dramatised scenes from the diary to create a moving testimony to the plight of refugees past and present.
