More than 30 years after Top Gun was released, Tom Cruise finally reprised his role as Navy pilot Maverick this summer in the long-awaited and highly-anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick. A critical and commercial success - still breaking box office records - the follow-up, like the original, features action-packed fighter-plane scenes of skill and daring that deserve to be seen on the biggest of screens.

For one day only, GFT is screening the films back-to-back offering a rare chance to see the iconic 1980s original and its sequel together in cinema. Bring your wing man and join us for this special double-bill - we’ll be serving Iceman cocktails and taking call signs.

Top Gun - 4K

The film that made Tom Cruise a household name has it all - action, drama, romance, bromance and a pounding Eighties soundtrack.

Tom Cruise is Maverick, a pilot with a chip on his shoulder and an ego that writes cheques that his body can’t cash. Maverick and his co-pilot Goose (Anthony Edwards) are sent to the US Navy’s top flying school to test their skills against the best. Tom Skerritt plays mentor ‘Viper’ and Val Kilmer is ‘Iceman’, as slick and by the books as Maverick is unpredictable.

Kelly McGillis, Tim Robbins and Michael Ironside are among the supporting cast.

Top Gun: Maverick

After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialised mission, the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: ‘Rooster,’ the son of Maverick’s late friend Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka ‘Goose.’

Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.
