Thelma and Louise – a bored housewife (Geena Davis) and a strait-laced waitress (Susan Sarandon) – are best friends who are sick of what they have settled for. Deciding to escape the tedium of their everyday lives, the pair head off in Louise’s 1966 T-bird convertible for a fishing weekend with no husbands, no boyfriends and no problems.
But things don’t go to plan and their quiet getaway turns into a cross country escape that will change their lives forever.
Featuring faultless performances from the two leads, Thelma & Louise’s themes of friendship, empowerment and women struggling to survive in a man’s world, have lost none of their power in the three decades since the film’s release.
Screening in 4K. This screening will be introduced by film critic and programmer Allan Hunter.
