Details

La Nouvelle Vague icon Anna Karina stars as Suzanne, a young woman locked in a convent and forced against her will to take vows as a nun. She finds some comfort with the Mother Superior, but when she dies and is replaced by a sadistic woman, Suzanne must fight for her freedom and the right to renounce her vows. Based on the book of the same name by Denis Diderot and following on from an earlier stage adaptation produced by Jean-Luc Godard, which also starred Karina to great acclaim, The Nun is one of the most breath-taking and emotional works of 1960s French cinema. New digital restoration
