Details

On the brink of societal collapse, a near-future Detroit is battling against a monstrous crime wave. When police officer Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is brutally murdered by one of the city’s gangs, megacorporation Omni Consumer Products revives him as a cyborg law-enforcement officer. RoboCop is designed as a weapon for the Detroit Police Department, but who is really calling the shots? Is RoboCop a mindless cyborg carrying out orders or has Officer Murphy lingered inside the machine? Paul Verhoeven’s dystopian action sci-fi is a true classic of the genre. Tackling themes such as authoritarianism, privatisation, capitalism, identity and corruption, RoboCop has become increasingly relevant with age. It remains one of the best films in the ‘Verhoeuvren’. Screening in 4K.
