England, 1988. Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government is about to pass a law stigmatising gays and lesbians, forcing Jean (Rosy McEwen), a gym teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl (Lucy Halliday) at school catalyses a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.
Winner of four British Independent Film Awards — including Best Lead Performance from Rosy McEwen — and the Audience Award at Venice Film Festival, Blue Jean is an outstanding directorial debut from Georgia Oakley.
Preview followed by a Q&A with writer/director and BAFTA nominee Georgia Oakley and cast member Lucy Halliday.
This screening will be Captioned, and the Q&A will be live captioned and BSL interpreted.
