Details

We are proud to partner with Safe in Scotland's Community in Action campaign for a special screening of one of our most popular films of 2021, and the winner of four BAFTA Scotland awards: Ben Sharrock's Limbo.

Join us on 9 December as we celebrate Human Rights Day (a day early) with a screening of this brilliant film, introduced by director Ben Sharrock followed by a panel discussion about seeking asylum in Scotland and Safe in Scotland's work to end destitution in our community.

Ben Sharrock’s deadpan comedy-drama brings a completely fresh perspective to the life of a migrant. Musician Omar has fled conflict in Syria and now finds himself at a desolate refugee centre on a remote Scottish island. Separated from home and family, he waits in limbo for others to decide his future. Omar's desperate situation is marked by open hostility, offers of friendship and small acts of kindness from the strangers all around him. A beautiful, achingly poignant tale that will break your heart on the way to warming your soul.

Tickets for this screening are on a sliding scale. Please select the price that best suits your financial means.

The screening will have a pre-recorded introduction by writer/director Ben Sharrock, and will be followed by a panel discussion led by Mahdi Saki, Participation Manager for Safe in Scotland, with Patrick Harvie MSP and more guests to be confirmed.
