Details

A close look at the subtle ways in which privilege works in our societies.

Libertad is a colourful coming-of-age story that follows a blossoming friendship between the daughter of a Catalan bourgeois family and the Colombian daughter of the family’s maid. Is it possible for two young women who belong to different social classes to maintain a sincere connection as they grow up?

Critically acclaimed and fresh from its Cannes premiere, Libertad is the first feature by rising star Clara Roquet, a Lucrecia Martel-influenced film set during an idyllic summer in the Catalan Costa Brava.

Clara Roquet surprises with a brilliant and pained reading of the condition of privilege … dazzling debut.
