The story of France’s patron saint is told through the joyful noise of a heavy-metal musical, adapted from the early 20th century theatrical works of French writer Charles Peguy. In the midst of the Hundred Years’ War, the film follows the young shepherdess Jeanette through her childhood and adolescence as she contemplates the war and her place in God’s scheme – all while singing to hard-rock strains played by an unseen band.

Imagine a cross between Annie and Jesus Christ Superstar, only with more speed metal.
