An Oscar-nominated Al Pacino is on electrifying form in Sidney Lumet’s brilliant New York crime drama. In the dog days of summer, Sonny (Pacino) and Sal (John Cazale) decide to rob the First Brooklyn Savings Bank. When nothing goes according to plan, the botched heist escalates into a desperate hostage situation, yet Sonny slowly emerges as an unlikely folk hero from the ensuing media circus. A film that captures the edgy state of the American nation during the 1970s, and one where the shouts of ‘Attica! Attica!’ became a rallying cry against the forces of the establishment.

This is a free event.
