Wim Wenders (born 1945) came to international prominence as one of the pioneers of the New German Cinema during the 1970s and is considered to be one of the most important figures in contemporary German film.
Often focusing on lonely and disconnected characters, Wenders’ films tap into a deep spiritual longing that is both relatable and mysterious. Working with master cinematographer Robbie Müller (1940-2018), Wenders created some of cinema’s most expressive and enduring images.
