An aching and gorgeous drama, adapted from Andre Aciman’s novel. Italy, summer 1983: Elio (Timothée Chalamet) is a precocious 17-year old American-Italian boy, innocent and uninformed about matters of the heart. Oliver (Armie Hammer) is a charming American scholar on a residential placement assisting Elio’s academic father. Amid the sun-drenched surroundings, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire, and explore their sexuality over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever.
To mark International Bi Visibility Day, there will be a panel discussion after the film on Bisexuality in the Media, with local bisexual activists.
