Screening Sun 1 (16.15) & Tue 3 Sep (19.55)

From visionary filmmaker Spike Lee comes the incredible true story of an American hero. It’s the early 1970s: Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) becomes the first African-American detective on the Colorado Springs Police Department and resolves to make a name for himself and a difference in his community. He bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. Produced by the team behind the Academy-Award winning Get OutBlacKkKlansman offers an unflinching, true-life examination of race relations in 1970s America that is just as bracingly relevant in today’s tumultuous world.

Tue 3 Sep (19.55) screening will be introduced by Najma Abukar, Somali-born, Glasgow-based photographer. Najma studied Film and Media Studies and Spanish at the University of Stirling and documents cultural and gender identities, the African diaspora and immigrant experiences through her work.

..vital and timely work that’s up there with Spike Lee's best
