This year we are delighted to announce our first Careers Day in Scotland’s Film Industry in partnership with Prince’s Trust Scotland and Developing Young Workforce. This day will have a broad focus on the different kinds of careers in Scotland’s film industry as well as practical information on ‘next steps.’

In the morning we will welcome a special key note speech from Alan McDonald, A former High School teacher, Alan McDonald's first feature, Anna and the Apocalypse, was released in 2018. He was a script consultant on CBBC show Last Commanders, is part of the BBC Drama Writer's Programme for 2019 and is working with companies that include Sony, Bad Wolf and Big Talk.

Following this we will have presentations from Foundation Apprenticeships and Glasgow City College on relevant courses as well as some amazing workshops in; film making, animation, movie make up & storyboarding. Perfect for creative young people looking for some inspiration for an exciting career!

As a self-taught screenwriter and former High School teacher, I believe it's vital that the screen industry reaches out to new talent. We need to encourage as many young voices as we can - and there are a wealth of these in Scotland, from a variety of backgrounds. Events like this help young people understand that there is a career here waiting for them and that they are worth listening to. I'm delighted to be part of it.
