Smoke
Writer Paul Benjamin is nearly hit by a bus when he leaves Auggie Wren's smoke shop. Stranger Rashid Cole saves his life, and soon middle-aged Paul tells homeless Rashid that he wouldn't mind a short-term housemate. Still grieving over his wife's murder, Paul is moved by both Rashid's quest to reconnect with his father and Auggie's discovery that a woman who might be his daughter is about to give birth. Written by the great New York author Paul Auster, who died in 2024.
Screening as part of our Crimbo Limbo programme in the week between Christmas and New Year.

Give a gift to GFT this Christmas
This holiday season, we’re celebrating not only Christmas but also 85 years since our cinema's original opening, 50 years of GFT, and the 20th Glasgow Film Festival. Whilst our box office and bar sales only cover around 50% of our annual costs and help keep the film reels rolling, we rely on donations and fundraising to run our education and community activities. We need your help!
Celebrate 50 years of GFT by donating £50. A £50 donation also secures your seat at our special January screening.
