Description of image

Dunkirk (2017, 12A - contains war violence and moments of distress)

Director Christopher Nolan tells a fictionalised account of the things that took place at Dunkirk during World War II by following three stories - soldiers preparing for evacuation on land, a small civilian boat at sea, and a fighter pilot rapidly losing fuel in the air. Filmed using IMAX cameras, it features amazing set pieces and an impressive cast.

A great film for any class studying WWII and also suitable for Media classes or those already studying film. Also works as a good text to write about in English and Media exams. Suitable for S3 and above.

This resource contains watching questions and tasks on sound, casting and non-linear timelines.

Dunkirk is available on BBC iPlayer for a short time and also available on Netflix.
