Glasgow Film Festival has been named Outstanding Festival of the Year at the Herald Scottish Culture Awards. The ceremony took place at Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Thursday 11 July and featured the very best of the Scottish arts and entertainment scene, to celebrate the wealth of cultural talent in Scotland.

The award was presented by Marie Christie of Event Scotland and host of the awards, Bryan Burnett.

Allison Gardner, Co-Director of Glasgow Film Festival, collected the award on behalf of the team and said: "GFF is a team effort – an outstanding team effort! Thank you to all our staff, volunteers and funders for their continued support, but most of all we thank our audience, we're nothing without them."

2019 was a record-breaking year for the festival with 42,224 admissions and 166 premieres. This year we screened more than 5,000 hours of film in 22 different locations around Glasgow and welcomed 450 press, industry delegates and guests, including Sir Michael Palin, Jessie Buckley, Matt Bomer and Carol Morley.

The next edition of the festival takes place 26 February – 8 March 2020.
