Stan and Ollie (2018, U)

At the end of their careers, famed comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy tour the UK as they attempt to secure funding for their new film based on the story of Robin Hood. Sixteen years after the pair last made a film together, their tour is troubled by mismanaged venue hires, tiny audiences and their simmering anger at one another for past betrayals.

Starring John C Reilly and Steve Coogan, the film is perfectly cast and provides a snapshot into film history. It also captures both the wit and physical comedy that Laurel and Hardy were so well known for. A great film for any class who wants to look into Hollywood, celebrity culture or even just wants to watch a good biopic!

Our resource is best suited for S1-3 and contains questions on watching the film, studying character, camera shots and opportunities for pupils to research entertainers of their choice.

Keep checking back for more resources coming soon and be sure to let us know what you've been watching with your class. Find us on Twitter @glasgowfilmedu and let us know how you got on with the tasks using the hashtag #AtHomeWithGFT.
