Previous Festivals

Glasgow Youth Festival began in 2009 as part of Glasgow Schools Week, within Glasgow Film Festival. Over the past 10 years, the festival has grown to occupy a weekend of its own.

Programmed by 15-19 year olds, who are mentored on a year round basis, GYFF is one of the most innovative film festivals in Europe and, over the past decade, has seen a number of high-profile titles in the programme including: Taika Waititi’s Boy and The Muppets in 2011; Disney’s Wreck-it Ralph in 3D in 2013; Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises in 2014; The Witch in 2016, and much more, alongside cult classic favourites like Mean Girls and Edward Scissorhands

GYFF has welcomed a number of inspiring guests including John C. Reilly, Kate Dickie and This Is England star Thomas Turgoose - who celebrated his 18th birthday at the festival!

In this section, you can see our previous brochures back to 2013.

Year on year, GYFF continues to grow into a spectacular celebration of film curated by young people. In 2018 (14-16 September), we celebrate the 10th Anniversary and Scotland’s very first Year of Young People - join us!
