Accents is a new work of film/music by Glasgow’s UNESCO City of Music artist-in-residence Richy Carey. Bringing together communities to perform a live soundtrack, Accents is about the everyday music in our voices, asking questions around how we listen and speak with each other, the sound between our individual and collective identities.

Prior to the premiere of Accents at the Glasgow Royal Concert Halls on Saturday 16 March, composer Richy Carey presents a programme of artist films that speak to some of the themes in the work. Variously exploring ideas of place, voice and identity, collective performance, indeterminacy and instruction scores, as well as the relationship between image, sound and text, the programme includes works by Kathryn Elkin, Beatrice Gibson, Mikhail Karikis, Peter Rose and John Smith.
