Our Youth Team - Max from last year's Young Selectors team, Simona from our Youth Board, and Kiera, James, Jordan, Amy and Niki from this year's GYFF Young Programmers - travelled up to Inverness on Thursday 11 November to visit Inverness Film Festival at Eden Court. We caught some of the amazing Behind the Scenes in association with BFI Film Academy Labs events.

In the morning, before we arrived, was the Scottish Shorts: Filmmaker Panel and Casci Ritchie talking about Colour in Costume. The evening before had also included a workshop with director Tim Barrow and a Q&A about his work.

Our team caught the amazing Documentary in an Hour workshop with Duncan Cowles, which was totally different from his workshop at Glasgow Youth Film Festival. The spontaneous and interactive nature of the workshop guaranteed a one-of-a-kind experience. Differing from the chosen theme at his GYFF workshop, this time, Duncan created a hilarious documentary about the terror of tiny dogs. Audience members offered their stories of terrifying terriers and petrifying pomeranians and Duncan shot and edited the whole thing in less than an hour. We can't wait to see what Duncan has in store for future films and workshops because it always proves to be a surprise at Behind the Scenes!

Next up, we caught the #InvFilmFest Shorts Screening, featuring short films by emerging Scottish filmmakers who had each received support from Screen Scotland and Scottish Film Talent Network. Some of these filmmakers featured in the morning's panel discussion. A mixture of thought-provoking, delightful and intriguing, these shorts gave us a glimpse of some of Scotland's future filmmakers and we can't wait to see more of their work.

We'd like to our funders: BFI Film Academy and Gannochy Trust for making these amazing events happen and for facilitating the trip for our young people. We'd also like to thank Eden Court for showing us such a great festival and accommodating us throughout the day!

Behind the Scenes in association with BFI Film Academy Labs will be returning during Glasgow Film Festival in March!
