Glasgow Film launches the third Young Scottish Filmmakers Prize

Glasgow Film is pleased to announce submissions are officially open for the Young Scottish Filmmakers Prize. Now in its third year, the YSFP is an opportunity open to filmmakers from across Scotland from ages 18-25. It will be delivered in partnership with Eden Court Highlands and Glasgow Short Film Festival, supported by BFI Film Academy awarding National Lottery funding and designed in consultation with Short Circuit and GMAC Film.

The shortlist will be made of six short films that will be screened during Glasgow Short Film Festival 2024. There will be two categories of competition for the films submitted. The first category of competition is for filmmakers who completed their short films independently, without any formal funding or support. The second category is for those who made their short film with formal funding or support from their university, college or a film organisation. An initial jury of programmers and professionals from Eden Court Highlands, Glasgow Short Film Festival and Glasgow Film Festival, will watch every submitted film before deciding the six finalists. A young jury of film fans and finalists from last year’s prize, chaired by Short Circuit Talent Executive Wilma Smith, will decide on the winner of each category.

The winning filmmakers from each category will each be awarded £1,500 in funding to further their career in film. All shortlisted filmmakers will receive £250 as well as continual support and guidance from the Glasgow Film team. As well as this, the shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to attend networking mixers and development opportunities, facilitated by the partners of the prize.

The deadline for film submissions is 5pm on November 24th. Full application details can be found here.
