The threat of nuclear annihilation lies at the core of Val Guest’s prescient British disaster movie. Peter Stenning (Edward Judd) is a boorish Fleet Street hack assigned to investigate the cause of strange meteorological events happening across the globe. Simultaneous nuclear bomb tests have knocked the planet off its axis, altering climate zones, leaving London sweltering in unbearable heat and placing Earth on a collision course with the Sun. An atmospheric,  BAFTA-winning doomsday classic that captures the fears and anxieties of escalating Cold War tensions.
