Details

Twenty years after his death, Toshirô Mifune remains one of the defining figures of Japanese cinema. His collaborations with legendary director Akira Kurosawa created an indelible image of a ferocious, relentless lone wolf warrior that would influence Clint Eastwood’s The Man with No Name and many others. Keanu Reeves narrates a documentary filled with archive footage, insight and the vivid testimony of family and colleagues on a fascinating, mercurial figure. The film is a perfect overture to GFF’s short Mifune retrospective, which includes an unmissable selection of Kurosawa classics.

It's a brisk and energetic primer for those who don't know his movies or are ready to watch them again.
