Director Patrick Wang will introduce this screening

Patrick Wang (In the Family, The Grief of Others) makes a welcome return to GFF with a beguiling, Altman- esque ensemble drama that builds into a heartfelt ode to the arts. Dorothea (Tyne Daly) and her partner Greta (Elisabeth Henry-Macari) have devoted forty years to transforming their small-town’s disused bread factory into a civic centre promoting theatre, dance and film. As they prepare to stage Hecuba, they learn that their funding may be cut in favour of a glitzy, commercial rival. The fight to save a lifetime’s labours will be felt throughout the community.

Every single performance feels vibrant and alive
