Artist and illustrator Igort (Igor Tuveri) has adapted his own graphic novel into a stylish, guns-blazing neonoir set on the rain-sodden mean streets of 1970s Naples. The great Toni Servillo lends weary gravitas to the role of Peppino, an old-school hitman and loyal footsoldier. When a family member is ambushed and killed, it is the start of a war that will be marked in bloodshed, betrayal and dishonour. From the Saul Bass-like opening titles to the Morricone-style music and nods to Sergio Leone, this is Roy Andersson returns with another mournful reflection on human existence.
