Industry

GFF Industry Focus takes place from 28 Feb – 2 March 2018, and features a series of exciting events centering on the most relevant developments in the film industry today. Join us for discussions on new methods of finance and distribution, workplace harassment, gender imbalance in film and TV, as well as case studies and masterclasses on genre feature filmmaking, casting, directing actors, pitching, and story development.

Alex Stolz, of the trailblazing podcast Film Disruptors, will host Distribution 2.0, a look at tools, strategies and techniques that will cut through the noise in 2018 and help independent film find its audience. We'll also host Industry Spotlight events featuring A-list guests Andrew Macdonald and Kerry Barden, who will talk through their extensive film careers and newest projects.

Other highlights across the three-day event include:

The unique opportunity to book one-to-one surgery sessions with leading industry figures, including Kevin Dolan, Talent Development Manager at Film London; Alison Goring, newly appointed Head of the National Film and Television School Scotland; Emma Dutton, film financier at Sharp House and talent agent Rob Kraitt.

GFF Industry workshops include a practical, hands-on session on the development of character and story with screenwriter and regular Shane Meadows collaborator Paul Fraser (Once Upon a Time in the MidlandsDead Man's Shoes), as well as a workshop on the director actor relationship with Kenny Glenaan in partnership with Directors UK.

Market Place Live, Film London's innovative 'live' panel experience developed in partnership with Film Export UK and Glasgow Film Office. This showcases the Film Value Chain through a hypothetical film project which is developed, produced, sold and distributed all within 90 minutes.

Each day concludes with GFF Industry Happy Hour - join GFF press, filmmaker and industry guests, and the GFF team for a drink hosted by our various sponsors, where you can meet up with friends and colleagues, as well as network and make new connections.
