Wil (Krusiec) is a successful young surgeon who hides her lesbian identity from her traditional Chinese family. But when her mother (Chen) reveals she is pregnant outside of marriage she has her own secrets to grapple with and moves in with Wil. The mother-daughter relationship is put to the test meanwhile Wil tries to balance a new relationship with her girlfriend Vivian (Lynn Chen).
