Preview: Hard Truths

The perfect finale for our CineMasters: Mike Leigh season, we can't wait for this preview screening of his latest release, Hard Truths. Set in post-COVID London, Hard Truths reunites Leigh with Marianne Jean-Baptiste after their earlier collaboration on Secrets & Lies. The film explores the bitter and broken psyche of Pansy (Jean-Baptiste), a working class Black woman still in the physical and emotional throws of the global panic. Her constant criticism isolates her from everyone, except from her cheerful sister Chantal, who remains sympathetic despite their differences. This heartfelt and intimate portrait of contemporary British family life ranks amongst Leigh's finest films. ------ Year of Celebration Film - Donate £50 at checkout 2024 marks 85 years since our cinema (originally the Cosmo) was built, 50 years since GFT was founded and the 20th edition of Glasgow Film Festival.
