In 2008, during the last month of summer before high school begins, an impressionable 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy learns what his family can’t teach him: how to skate, how to flirt, and how to love your mum. English and Mandarin with English subtitles ------------------- Please note our screening on Wednesday 21 August at 6pm will be a sliding scale payment screening followed by Glasgow Film Club — a monthly club to come and chat about film. Glasgow Film Club takes place after our Sliding Scale Screening (choose from paying £0, £2, £4, £6, £8, £10) of a new release. Anyone who has seen the film, no matter what screening they go to, is welcome at Glasgow Film Club. It is a place for our audience to socialise and explore films in a way that is meaningful to them. Meet our Community Engagement Coordinator, Nicola Scott, in the GFT Foyer after the screening ends at 7.55pm. You can expect: · A welcoming, relaxed environment · A casual club feel rather than a formal discussion group · Refreshments provided · No need to sign up — just come on the day · Everyone is welcome to come and chat about the film · Glasgow Film Club is free to attend ------ YEAR OF CELEBRATION 2024 marks 85 years since our cinema (originally the Cosmo) was built, 50 years since GFT was founded and the 20th edition of Glasgow Film Festival. Whilst our box office and bar sales only cover around 50% of our annual costs and help keep the film reels rolling, we rely on donations and fundraising to run our education and community activities.
