Bill Forsyth’s charming and quirky Christmas-set urban fairy tale is the follow-up to his hit films Gregory’s Girl and Local Hero. Comfort and Joy is a comedy gem about ice cream van wars in Glasgow.
Bill Paterson stars as Glasgow radio host Alan Bird, who, after witnessing an ice cream van being attacked, becomes embroiled in a feud between two Italian families: a turf war over who gets to sell ice cream where in the city. Comfort and Joy features Forsyth’s trademark eccentric, gentle humour and is hailed as ‘his masterpiece’ by The Spectator.
Screening as part of our Christmas Programme.
