Black History Month 2024

GFT and the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights bring you a host of films and events to celebrate this year’s Black History Month.

We begin the month with T A P E collective's SNAPSHOT Shorts celebrating Black girls' experiences followed by a free workshop inspired by the films. We will be screening The Annihilation of Fish, starring James Earl Jones which has been restored and is screening in the UK for the first time since its release 25 years ago. We will be discussing South Asian Scottish Queer identity with a screening of Nina’s Heavenly Delights. There are two music documentaries, Harder than the Rock and our final screening of the programme, Secret Lives: The Untold Story of British Hip Hop, where we will be joined by the Director Eunice Olumide MBE for a post-film Q&A.

Following Secret Lives: The Untold Story of British Hip Hop, we invite you to our closing event at CCA's Third Eye Bar. We will be joined by Junglehussi who will be bringing you a Hip Hop infused DJ set.
