The screening will be followed by a Skype Q&A with director Jessica Sarah Rinland.
Documenting the meticulous reproduction of an elephant’s ivory tusk with an observational lyricism, Jessica Sarah Rinland’s richly layered film embeds themes of tactility, archaeology and work into the very texture and rhythm of its images. Unfolding with a fascination for forensic detail, the Argentine-British artist’s featurelength debut demonstrates an acute awareness that to make a film is also to mediate, replicate and archive. Rinland’s film is a beautiful ode to the labour of collective memory.
