Winner of the Golden Bear for best film at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, this is an unusual and tender love story. Each night, Endre and Mária, quietly-spoken coworkers in a slaughterhouse, dream the same dream and meet one another as deer in a forest. When they discover their shared nightly vision, they begin to become closer – despite their oppressive work environment. Award-winning Hungarian filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi imbues her strange romantic tale with deadpan humour and a deep sense of human longing. Content note: contains graphic scenes of animal slaughter.
