Scotland's original independent cinema, GFT is housed within the former Cosmo Cinema. Opened on 18 May 1939, this was also the last cinema to be built in Glasgow before the outbreak of the Second World War. Explore the recently refurbished foyer, bars and accessible training and office spaces of this much loved and historic Glaswegian institution.

Book free tickets for projection box tours from 10am - 1pm* on Sunday 17 September (access via several steps and restricted numbers due to Health & Safety) or drop in to visit the three cinemas and bar areas.

Also during the morning we will be hosting two talks:

11.00 - 11.45am - McGinlay Bell (Brian McGinlay and Angus Ritchie). Hear the story of GFT's recent award-winning refurbishment. (Max 2 free tickets per person, available from 9.30am on the day only from GFT).

12.00 - 13.00 - Gordon Barr & Gary Painter Cinema Lecture. This illustrated talk will cover the full range of Glasgow's cinema history. (Max 2 free tickets per person, available from 9.30am on the day only from GFT).

*Projection Box Tours take place on the hour and half hour, starting at 10am, 10.30am, 11am, 11.30am, 12 noon, 12.30, 1pm. Each tour lasts for 15 – 20 mins and is not accessible due to stairs. Max 2 free tickets per person, available from 9.30am on the day only from GFT. Subject to availability.
