Details

Adapted from the short story by Isak Dinesen, the beguiling Babette’s Feast is a mouthwatering classic. In 19th century Denmark, sisters Filippa and Martine host prayer groups in honour of their late father. When exiled Parisian chef Babette agrees to work as their cook, she brings gastronomic indulgence to the sisters and their austere community. Babette’s Feast is at once poignant and funny, and above all, joyful in its celebration of life’s pleasures.

Screening as part of Book Week Scotland 2017.

All ticket holders will receive a complimentary novel, thanks to Canongate Books.

For the best onscreen shot of turtle soup, a surprisingly moving moment of Protestant Danes holding hands in a circle, and a beautiful story of self-sacrifice (à la française) in service of friendship, there is no better recipe than Babette's Feast.
