Film Producer Accelerator

Film Producer Accelerator is a 3-month training programme supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds and Skills Development Scotland, to develop the next generation of feature film producers. Ten emerging producers with feature films in development will receive training from Sigma Films to hone their commercial, business, personal and production acumen, culminating in pitches, meetings and roundtables at Glasgow Film Festival.

Who Is It For?

The Film Producer Accelerator is designed to develop the business skills of fiction or documentary producers who have a track record of producing shorts and low/no budget features that will allow them to build a sustained career in film production.

Applicants should have produced at least three shorts or low budget features, some of which should have been screened at festivals. Applicants should have basic knowledge of how a film is made and demonstrable experience of the production process. Applicants should have at least a first draft script of a film ready to work on.

Successful applicants will build on their existing skills on this course; with guidance on how to identify commercially viable scripts, build a production team, develop a slate of productions, finance a feature indie film and negotiate sales, distribution and marketing.

Throughout the process, participants will be using a project that they have in development as a tool for training - putting newly developed skills to work on their own production. Participants will then present their films at Glasgow Film Festival meetings and roundtables.
